Question 1 of 1
1. Question
What might you do to help reinforce the positive impression of your organisation the new starter gained during the recruitment process and make them feel at ease and welcome before starting?
Below are some ideas to welcome a new starter before their first day:
- Reach out: It can be very engaging for the new starter to receive a warm welcome message from their future line manager. It can also be a nice touch for the team to reach out in advance of the first day.
- Tell them what to expect: To help ease the new starter’s nerves, cover off essentials like how they will receive equipment and what their first day or week will involve. If appropriate, perhaps tell them about any project your team is working on that they may be involved with. Again, it all helps to create a favourable, professional impression.
- Welcome Packs: Our new starters will be issued with a company welcome pack that includes branded items – this helps create a positive first impression and provides a gesture of our appreciation.
