Onboarding methods

When planning the onboarding process, you need to consider the most appropriate methods. This includes accommodating the practical requirements of the different elements that need to be covered, such as making sure you have the right equipment or tools for particular sessions, as well as the preferred learning styles of your new starter. This will:

  • help to capture the employee’s interest; and
  • help them to learn.

For example, some people learn more effectively in a group discussion, while others appreciate quiet reflective time to read and assimilate information. Ask the employee about their preferences early in the onboarding process.

Bear in mind that using a blend of learning styles can help to keep the employee interested.
